Can a mouldy rug be saved?
Often, yes, and the only honest way to know is to look at it. Our first step is a free assessment where IICRC-certified technicians check whether the mould has reached the foundation and whether dry rot has set in. What kills mould in rugs?
Not a spray. Surface mould wipes away, but the mould you cannot see lives in the backing, and that is what regrows. The reliable answer is full immersion: we submerge and hand-wash the rug at our facility so the wash flushes spores out of the foundation, then dry it right through under controlled conditions so no moisture is left to feed regrowth. Is rug mould dangerous, and is it the bad black kind?
