From your front door to our Yatala facility and safely back again. This is the real process, not a quick spray.
The damage you can see is almost never the whole story
By the time most people notice, the moths have had a long, quiet head start. You usually only spot it once the pile goes thin or bald along the skirting, edges and corners and the jute backing starts showing through, and what looks like one small hole often turns out, once the rug is washed, to be a far larger patch of grazed fibres than the surface let on. The real activity happens where you never look: under the couch and furniture legs, along the rug's underside, and through the fringes. Most people have already tried fly spray, permethrin, mothballs, vacuuming and dragging out the furniture, and the bald patches still keep spreading. That is the moment it makes sense to call a specialist, because this is a warm-coast problem, not a freak event, and not a sign of a dirty home, even rugs kept in a quiet room get infested.

Specialist care, not a quick spray
Your rug is collected and brought to our dedicated washing facility, where it is hand-assessed and cleaned by fibre, then dried under control. A deep, safe clean that protects the rug you love, backed by 29 years and a 7-day free re-wash guarantee.
Built to protect your rug
we submerge the whole rug in a controlled hand wash at our Yatala plant, so the water flushes eggs, larvae and the trapped grime that attracts moths out of the foundation and fringes, the exact places a surface spray or hot-water carpet clean never reaches. That is the difference between making a rug look cleaner and actually killing what lives inside it.
your rug is dried properly in our facility, not left damp like a steam-cleaned carpet, so there is no lingering moisture for mould, sourness or fresh larvae to settle into. It comes back fully dry, the musty smell gone, and we can add a deterrent treatment that makes the fibres unpalatable to moths for ongoing protection.
before any work starts we tell you plainly what we can see, whether the infestation is still live, and whether the rug is worth saving, the way our customers put it: they did not try to scare us, just explained what to look for. Older moth-eaten spots may remain, but the rug comes back fresh, clean and safe to use.
our products are safe around cats, dogs and crawling children, with none of the harsh insecticides that worry pet owners. Free pickup quarantines the infestation away from your home so it is never shaken out indoors, your rug stays fully insured throughout, and every job is backed by our 7-day free re-wash guarantee.

Common questions
Can you get rid of moths in a rug, or do carpet moths ever really go away?
Yes, in most cases they can be stopped for good, but only if the eggs and larvae are killed, not just the moths you can see. That is the catch: people feel like carpet moths never go away because sprays and vacuuming leave the grubs alive deep in the foundation, so the colony quietly carries on. A full immersion wash submerges the whole rug and flushes the eggs and larvae out of the foundation and fringes, which is what actually breaks the cycle. We can also add a deterrent and give you simple storage and vacuuming advice so they stay gone.
What kills rug moths, and does vinegar kill carpet moth eggs?
Fully submerging the rug and washing it right through kills them, surface tricks do not. Vinegar, mothballs and naphthalene do not reliably kill the eggs and larvae, fly spray and permethrin only sit on top of the pile, and vacuuming lifts what is loose. The grubs buried in a thick or antique rug survive all of it. Our full immersion hand wash works because the whole rug is submerged, drowning and flushing out the eggs and larvae the DIY methods leave behind.
I've already tried fly spray, mothballs and vacuuming. Why does it keep spreading?
Because all of those only treat the surface. The bald patches keep creeping along the skirting and edges even after you have moved every piece of furniture, because the eggs and larvae are buried in the foundation where nothing you sprayed reached them. If you have tried all that and it is still spreading, that is the clearest sign the live infestation is still in there and only a full wash that gets right through the rug, not just across it, will stop it.
Won't a normal carpet clean or steam clean handle the moths?
No. A surface clean or hot-water extraction cleans the top of the pile but does not flush the eggs and larvae hidden in the foundation and fringes where the next generation hatches, and it can leave the rug damp enough to turn musty. We are a rug-only specialist, so your rug is never treated like a strip of carpet in your hallway. It is taken off-site and fully submerged at our facility, then dried under control, so we kill what is living inside it rather than just wetting the surface.
Is it worth treating, or should I just throw the rug out and buy a new one?
We give you an honest answer before you spend anything. Once we collect the rug we inspect it and tell you plainly whether the infestation is live and whether the rug is worth saving, with no pressure either way. For a valuable wool, silk or hand-knotted rug a professional wash is almost always worth it, because it kills the moths, lifts the musty smell and revives the colours rather than replacing an irreplaceable piece. We quote by size, fibre and condition, so call 1800 655 949 and we will talk you through it. If we think it is not worth cleaning, we will tell you that too.
Stop the moths before the damage spreads further
If you have found bald patches, little holes or live grubs, waiting is the worst thing you can do, because the larvae keep feeding and spreading to your other rugs and wardrobes while the rug sits untreated. Call 1800 655 949 and a 29-year, rug-only specialist will arrange free pickup from anywhere on the Sunshine Coast, quarantine your rug away from your home, and give you an honest look at whether the infestation is live and whether the rug can be saved before any work starts. It is then fully immersed and hand-washed at our Yatala facility with non-toxic, pet and child safe products, dried under control, and backed by our 7-day free re-wash. Bringing more than one rug? Save $20 on every additional rug in the same booking.
