From your front door to our Yatala facility and safely back again. This is the real process, not a quick spray.
Why moth damage in rugs is so often found too late
It starts in the spots nobody checks. The pile goes bald along the skirting and edges until the jute backing shows through, and by the time you spot it the larvae have been feeding for weeks in the dark corners under furniture. So you do what everyone does: fly spray, mothballs, vacuuming, dragging all the furniture out, maybe a permethrin spray, and you still cannot be sure it worked. That is the exhausting part. It is not the moths you can see, it is the eggs you cannot, breeding in the warm, humid Queensland air, moving from rug to rug and chewing through the woollen jumpers in the wardrobe.
A carpet cleaner with a van can ruin a fine rug
One-size-fits-all carpet machines are the number one cause of rug damage. Here is exactly what goes wrong.

Specialist care, not a quick spray
Your rug is collected and brought to our dedicated washing facility, where it is hand-assessed and cleaned by fibre, then dried under control. A deep, safe clean that protects the rug you love, backed by 29 years and a 7-day free re-wash guarantee.
Built to protect your rug
We do one thing: wash rugs. Each rug is hand-washed by full immersion at our dedicated Yatala facility, never steamed over the top and never washed in a van. Submerging the whole rug physically flushes the eggs, larvae and the soiling that attracts moths from the foundation and fringes, dealing with the full life cycle instead of leaving it behind to hatch again.
We do not trade on fear. We inspect the rug, tell you exactly what we see, and give you a straight answer on what can and cannot be saved before you commit. Older moth-eaten spots may remain, and we will be upfront about that. Just clear advice from certified specialists with 29 years on wool, silk, antique and Persian rugs.
A proper wash does double duty. It clears the infestation and revives the pile, colours and freshness, so the rug comes back usable instead of stripped or flat. We dye-test and check colour-fastness first, control the water and the drying, and can apply a moth-deterrent that makes the fibres unpalatable to larvae, the prevention move for valuable handmade rugs.
We use non-toxic products that are pet and child safe, so the rug goes straight back into a busy household without harsh residue. Every job is fully insured, your rug is tagged at pickup and the exact same rug returned to you, and it is all backed by our 7-day free re-wash guarantee.

Common questions
Can you get rid of moths in a rug, or do they ever really go away?
Yes, and no, they do not have to keep coming back. The reason DIY feels endless is that sprays and vacuuming only reach the surface while the eggs and larvae survive deep in the pile. Our full immersion wash submerges the whole rug at our Yatala facility, so the eggs, larvae and the soiling that attracts moths are flushed out at the source. We will also point you to the other spots in the home worth checking so the problem does not simply move next door.
What kills rug moths, and does vinegar kill carpet moth eggs?
Vinegar may freshen a surface but does not reliably kill eggs buried in the foundation, and freezing only works if every part of the rug stays cold enough for long enough, which is hard to manage at home. What reliably deals with the full life cycle is fully submerging and hand-washing the rug so the eggs, larvae and adults are physically flushed out. We can then apply a moth-deterrent treatment to help protect the fibres afterwards.
Can moth larvae survive the washing machine or a steam clean?
An automated machine or a surface steam clean is the most common mistake. They agitate or treat the top of the rug and miss the eggs and larvae living in the foundation and fringes, which is exactly where moths breed, and a machine can leave a rug damp enough to turn sour. We are rug specialists, not carpet cleaners, so we never steam over the top. We hand-wash by full immersion in controlled water, then dry under controlled conditions so nothing is left behind to return.
Is the treatment safe for my pets and kids, and will it harm a delicate wool or silk rug?
Yes on both counts. We use non-toxic products that are pet and child safe, so the rug returns to a busy household without harsh insecticide residue. We dye-test and check colour-fastness before washing, control the water temperature and drying, and hand-wash to suit the fibre, so a delicate wool, silk or viscose rug is cleaned and protected rather than risked. If you have been nervous about making it worse with another home cleaner, this is the careful, specialist approach.
How do you moth-proof a rug, and is it worth treating rather than replacing?
For valuable handmade, antique or quality wool and silk rugs, an annual professional wash is the accepted way to moth-proof them, and treatment is very often worth it because a good wash also revives the pile and colours. For a cheaper machine-made piece we will tell you honestly when cleaning is not worth the spend. We quote by size, fibre and condition after an honest assessment. Standard turnaround is about 7 days, with a 48-hour option on request when an active infestation needs stopping fast.
