From your front door to our Yatala facility and safely back again. This is the real process, not a quick spray.
Why red wine on a rug is a job for a specialist, not the pantry
You blotted it, maybe rubbed it with a towel, tried a vinegar soak or a Napisan paste, and it is still there. The mark is bothering you more each week, especially when the room has been closed up and the spill has started to smell stale. Red wine is the stubborn one for a reason: it carries both tannins and anthocyanin pigments that grip wool and silk fast, then oxidise darker by the hour, which is why last night's spill already looks worse than the one you blotted at the party. The trouble is the popular home fixes often do more harm than the wine. Rubbing it pushes the pigment deeper and fuzzes the pile. Peroxide and oxygen bleach can ring a coloured rug. And on a hand-dyed Turkish, Persian, silk or viscose rug, untested water can make the rug's own dyes bleed.
A carpet cleaner with a van can ruin a fine rug
One-size-fits-all carpet machines are the number one cause of rug damage. Here is exactly what goes wrong.

Specialist care, not a quick spray
Your rug is collected and brought to our dedicated washing facility, where it is hand-assessed and cleaned by fibre, then dried under control. A deep, safe clean that protects the rug you love, backed by 29 years and a 7-day free re-wash guarantee.
Built to protect your rug
We work on rugs and rugs only, with IICRC-certified technicians, the exact credential rug-care advice tells you to look for before you let anyone touch a wool, silk or oriental piece. Our customers chose us because it was not treated like a normal carpet job, because it is not one.
You never lug a heavy rug or wait in for a van between vague windows. We collect from your door and return it, so a big or awkward rug is never a reason to live with the stain or the smell.
We inspect the fibre and test the dyes first, then give you a realistic read and an inspection-based quote up front. If a set stain will lighten dramatically rather than fully vanish, you hear it from us before we start, not after, the way our reviewers say they were warned and rewarded the honesty.
Your rug is gently hand-washed by full immersion at our dedicated Yatala facility, never in a van, flushing the wine and the stale odour from deep in the fibres rather than heat-setting them the way on-site steam can, using non-toxic, pet and child safe products and backed by a 7-day free re-wash guarantee.

Common questions
Does red wine leave a permanent stain on a rug, and is mine even removable?
Not automatically. Red wine is the stubborn one because tannins and pigments grip and oxidise fast, but permanent is the exception, not the rule. We will be straight with you: a set spill often lightens dramatically and stops catching your eye rather than vanishing completely, which is exactly what our customers tell us they value being warned about up front. We inspect the mark and fibre and tell you what to expect before you commit, so you never pay blind.
What removes old, dried red wine that has been sitting for weeks?
Not more peroxide or another spray, both of which can ring a coloured rug. An old stain has oxidised and set, so it needs controlled immersion, not surface dabbing. We dye-test first, then gently hand-wash the whole rug by full immersion at our Yatala facility, which reaches the pigment and the stale smell deep in the pile and the foundation. Set wine usually lightens to a clear improvement, and we tell you honestly how far before we start.
Why are red wine stains so hard to remove?
Red wine carries two things at once: tannins and anthocyanin pigments, the same compounds that make it stain teeth and tablecloths. They bond to wool and silk almost instantly, then oxidise darker every hour the spill sits, so last night's mark looks worse than a fresh one. Heat from hot water or a steamer sets it permanently. That combination is why it beats most home remedies and needs a fibre-correct, dye-tested wash.
How do professionals remove red wine stains from a rug?
Very differently from a clothing dry cleaner or a carpet operator with on-site steam. We first inspect the fibre and test the dyes for colour-fastness, then gently hand-wash the whole rug by full immersion in controlled-temperature water at our Yatala facility, never in a van. Immersion flushes the tannins, pigments and stale odour from deep in the fibres rather than heat-setting them, followed by controlled drying so it comes back fresh, not damp or sour.
It has already been dry cleaned and the wine stain is still there. Can you do anything more?
Often, yes, and people come to us in exactly this spot. A clothing dry cleaner works very differently to a rug specialist, and on-site heat can set wine into wool while doing nothing to flush the stale odour from the backing. Our full immersion hand-wash reaches deep into the fibres and the foundation where a surface or solvent clean cannot. We will inspect it and tell you honestly whether we can improve on the result you already have.
