Rug specialists, not carpet cleaners

With a machine-made rug, the real question is what it should cost, and whether it is even worth it

Most machine-made rugs were not expensive, so when a clean is quoted the maths can feel off: is it worth washing the thing rather than replacing it? The honest answer is that it depends entirely on the rug, and that is the part nobody tells you before they take your money. A small printed mat with a degrading backing genuinely may not be worth saving. A large, good-quality tufted rug in a main living area, one that would cost a fair bit to replace and that your kids and pets lie on every day, almost always is. The problem with most operators is two-fold: they will wash anything you hand them because every rug is revenue, and they will not put a number on the page, so you have no way of knowing if the price is fair for a rug that was cheap to begin with. We do it differently. We inspect your rug first, price it for what it actually is, and tell you the truth about whether the result is worth the spend before you pay a cent.

The risk

A carpet cleaner with a van can ruin a fine rug

One-size-fits-all carpet machines are the number one cause of rug damage. Here is exactly what goes wrong.

The stale, musty rolled-up smellA rug stored or rolled away too long, or dried too slowly after a home wash, picks up a stale storage smell the whole room notices. Vacuuming and sprays only mask it, and in the Sunshine Coast humidity it keeps coming back until the moisture is properly flushed out.
Dull, flat, almost sticky traffic lanesOn a synthetic or polypropylene rug the high-traffic paths go dull, flat and almost sticky as oils and grit bind into the pile. Vacuuming helps a little but never restores it, and the rug that used to look plush and vibrant just looks tired.
The cheap clean that wrecks the rugA bargain on-site steam or a driveway soak floods the latex backing, loosens the glue and traps moisture, so the rug bubbles, warps and dries with a sour smell. You save a little up front and pay for a replacement rug later.
Paying more to clean than the rug is worthAn operator who washes anything for revenue will happily charge you near replacement cost to clean a small degrading mat you should have binned, and never say a word. Without an honest verdict and a fair, up-front price, you cannot tell good value from a waste of money.

Real wash, our facility
The Premier difference

Specialist care, not a quick spray

Your rug is collected and brought to our dedicated washing facility, where it is hand-assessed and cleaned by fibre, then dried under control. A deep, safe clean that protects the rug you love, backed by 29 years and a 7-day free re-wash guarantee.

Why Premier

Built to protect your rug

Rug-only specialists, priced by size and fibre

For 29 years we have washed rugs, not carpets, so a machine-made rug is never treated like one. Our IICRC-certified technicians check the fibre and backing first and price it for what that rug actually needs, not a vague headline rate or heirloom upsell.

Free pickup, no add-on fees

Free pickup, delivery and inspection across the Sunshine Coast are genuinely free, with no hidden minimum in the fine print. Each rug is tagged and logged at pickup, so the rug that leaves is the one that comes back, fully insured the whole way.

You approve the price before any work

After we inspect your rug we give you one clear, fair number up front, and nothing happens until you say yes. No surprise charges stacked on at the end, no quote that grows once the rug is loaded, no obligation to proceed.

$20 off each extra rug, safe for pets and kids

Bring more than one rug in the same booking and save $20 on every additional rug, so three is $40 off and four is $60 off. Products are non-toxic and pet and child safe, backed by a 7-day free re-wash guarantee and your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Good to know

Common questions

How much does it cost to wash an 8x10 rug?

There is no single number, because price depends on size, fibre and condition, and an 8x10 wool rug is not priced like an 8x10 polypropylene one. That is exactly why we inspect first and quote up front, before you spend a cent. After we see it you get one clear, fair price for the rug you actually own, with no add-ons stacked on later and nothing done until you approve it.

How do I wash a machine made rug properly?

A machine-made rug is dye and colour-fastness tested, then full-immersion hand-washed at our Yatala facility, never in a van, and dried under controlled conditions so moisture cannot stay in the backing. We do not use steam. We check the fibre and backing first and handle it with more care than people expect, because gentle immersion is what lifts the dull, sticky lanes without warping the latex.

Can a laundromat wash an 8x10 rug, or can I throw it in the machine?

Please do not. A domestic or laundromat machine, like a driveway soak, floods the latex backing, loosens the glue and traps moisture, which is what causes the bubbling, the warping and the sour wet-dog smell on machine-made rugs. Aussie forums also warn that hired Britex and Rug Doctor machines are cheaply made and barely work. A controlled facility immersion wash with proper extraction and monitored drying is the opposite, safer approach.

What is the best way to deep clean a rug?

Off-site, in a controlled facility, not at home. Cleaning one patch at home often just reveals the whole rug was dirtier than it looked, and people regret starting. A full-immersion hand wash flushes the soil, grit and trapped odour you cannot see out of the backing, then controlled drying removes the moisture that causes musty smells. A quick on-site clean or a hire machine simply cannot reach that deep.

Why is there no price on the page, and is pickup really free?

A number on the page would be a guess, because your price depends on the size, fibre and condition of your specific rug. After we inspect it we give you a clear, fair price up front that you approve before any work. Pickup, delivery and inspection across the Sunshine Coast are genuinely free, with no hidden minimum. Bring more than one rug and you save $20 on each additional rug in the same booking, so three rugs is $40 off and four is $60 off.

Free pickup, your exact price up front, then you decide

Here is the offer. We collect your machine-made rug from your Sunshine Coast home with free pickup and delivery, inspect it, and give you one clear, fair price for that exact rug, plus an honest verdict on whether it is even worth cleaning. If we clean it, you get an IICRC-certified facility immersion hand-wash at Yatala, controlled drying so it comes back fresh and not damp, non-toxic pet and child safe products, full insurance and a 7-day free re-wash guarantee plus your rights under Australian Consumer Law, with standard turnaround of about 7 days or 48 hours on request.
